6 weeks

My wonderful Trent...you are such a patient baby! I often feel bad for hauling him around ALL OVER while renovating our home. He is in the car majority of the day. I don't want him in the house with all the dust and construction so I leave him on the front porch when I run into the house to make decisions (paint, granite, cabinets, flooring, fixtures, etc!) He just goes with the flow and I appreciate his flexibility very much!
He rarely cries while out and about, but he is very persistent when he does! He gets this pathetic look on his face...lips totally frowning, huge tears, arms in the air! I have breastfed Trent in between granite slabs in a stone yard, on display toilets, in my car, on the floor in the bathroom at new house...I'm telling you, this boy is always on the go! I know it is all for good reason, these boys are going to love their new home! I am very excited as everything seems to progressing nicely.
Trent is a big boy! I'm looking forward to seeing how much he weighs. He looks like a total chunk! I literally have no complaints...either he is a wonderful baby or I am too busy to notice otherwise! He is strong too and can hold his head up for long periods at a time. He still loves to sleep on his tummy and side. He has his moments of "not being able to get comfortable, " so I put him on his tummy or side propped up in boppy pillow, and that always does the trick!
He still eats every 3-4 hours. We put him in his crib after his 8:00pm feeding and he usually falls right asleep...it's hit or miss. He either falls right asleep or he needs a little TLC! And he always falls right back to sleep after his middle of night feedings...thank goodness!! All in all, he is just so content. Of course he has his moments of "acting like a baby," and I LOVE to hold, rock and kiss him in those moments!
He doesn't love bath time- he doesn't hate it, but he looks forward to getting all wrapped up in the towel!! He does spit up from time to time, but it doesn't seem to bother him, so I just wipe his face and keep going! Hunter is obsessed with all things Trent. He hugs and kisses him often! He runs to me and says "Uh oh baby cry" when Trent needs my attention. I know they are going to have great times together. We all love Trent so much and look forward to being settled in the new house so we can have our "new normal!!"

Busy Days

Trent is 5 weeks old and time seems to be flying by. I have come to realize that this is one of the busiest/most overwhelming times in my life! Not only do I have a newborn and a 23 month old....but, I am also totally renovating our home while living with my dad. I have to make decisions about where to knock out walls, add cabinets, granite color, appliances, flooring, paint colors, light switch here or there, type of roof shingle, what color to re-stain the hardwood floors, many conversations with contractors, staying organized with materials/budget, and much more...there are a million decisions to make and it is HARD to focus with my boys in tow!
All of our stuff is everywhere! Furniture in storage, some clothes in storage/some with us at Dads, some stuff in dads garage, some in the new house garage. I have nothing else to say other than...this is an incredibly physically and mentally challenging time! However, in the "happy chaos" I have not overlooked my adorable Trent! I have made a point to take time (that I do not have) to just hold my sweet boy. He is still such a gentle, content and easy going baby.
We have actually enjoyed living with my dad. We are staying in the room that I grew up in. Dad is totally spoiling Trent, and he holds him all the time. They snuggle up and sleep for hours! He is still eating about every 3 hours. We put him in his crib after his 8pm feeding, and believe it or not, he goes straight to sleep...poor guy is probably exhausted from being hauled all around the city everyday! He wakes up around 11:00pm for a feeding, then Scott and I go to sleep. He wakes about 2:30 and again around 5:00. Scott takes him out in living room after his 5am feeding then brings him back to me around 8:00am to eat again. This is great because I get a straight 3 hours of hard sleep!  Scott takes care of Hunter and Trent in the mornings while he gets ready for work. I wake up by Scott handing me Trent, Hunter has already eaten breakfast, and dogs fed...I could really get used to this!!
Trent is starting to stay awake for about 2 hours at a time during the day! He is so curious about all the lights and sounds. He likes to be held in the upright position so he can really "take it all in!" He loves to sleep on his side and tummy...but he sleeps fine on his back at night. He loves to get all nestled in the boppy pillow. He continues to be a great eater and breastfeeding has been wonderful and smooth! He likes his pacifier but does not "need" it. Everyone thinks he looks like me/my side of the family. At this point, I see very little resemblance between Hunter and Trent.
He is such a gentle natured baby, I just love him too much! Hunter loves everything about him, and they have meshed together like 2 puzzle pieces that God created just for each other. As busy as this time is for us, we have so much to be grateful for. I am surrounded by blessings everyday, and I don't take one for granted. I have to remind myself that this is happy chaos full of wonderful blessings!

Bye Bye

Saying goodbye to our first home! We move next week, this is very bittersweet! Scott and I bought this house when we were 23 years old. We walked in with me, Scott and Zoe. Now 5 years later....we are leaving with me, Scott, Zoe, Bentley, Hunter and Trent!!
We are moving in with my dad while work is being done to the new house. We will stay with dad about a month. We are looking forward to spending quality time with him. We are also looking forward to remodeling our house and starting a new home! Most of all, I am REALLY looking forward to being settled in the new house!! I have been feeling 'scattered' and really feeling the need to nest!!
Trent is 3 weeks old and it feels like we have always had him around! He fits into our life and family like a perfect puzzle piece that we never knew we were missing!! He is strong! He can hold up his head and roll onto side. He is still eating every 3 hours...8am, 11am, 2pm, 5pm, 8pm, 11pm, 2am, 5am (then we start all over!) These times give or take an hour, but I do try to plan my day around this schedule. It has worked great so far!
Trent continues to be easy going. He has cried very little, but when he does...he sticks to his guns! He can really cry when he wants! He is still grunting, but I wear earplugs every night which has made a HUGE difference for me! Trent is still in our room and will continue to be in our room at my dads house (we have a pretty crib set up!) So, looks like I will be wearing earplugs for the next month or so until he gets his own room!
Hunter loves to help burp Trent! He pats his back, then kisses his face. It is so sweet. I really feel the love that Hunter already has for Trent. It melts my heart to see Hunter kiss Trent, then put his nose against Trent's nose saying "Wub you baby Trwen!!" One of the best moments of my day! He also reminds me to hold "baby Trewn" when we leave the house (he doesn't want me to forget the carseat!) And just to ensure a smile from my readers...Hunter also lifts up his shirt and runs to Trent when he cries! He thinks that anyone can "lift up their shirt" and make the baby stop crying! He is such an aware and funny guy! LOVE my boys more and more daily!!!

2 Week Stats

My-o-my...Trent is a growing boy!! We had his 2 week check up and he weighs 7lb 7oz!! He has gained nearly 2 whole pounds in just 2 weeks. In the doctors words, "this must be some type of weight gain record!" The doctor checked and reset the scale 3 times because she could not believe her eyes! Trent seems to have a large appetite, and he seems to like the result of MY large appetite!! Hahaha, like I have said....breastfeeding makes me eat like a horse!!
He is still grunting- louder each night!! UGH...this is very annoying! The doctor said that some babies are just grunters! She also said that 'high calorie milk' is harder for babies to digest the first couple months of life, therefore babies grunt to help digest. Regardless of the reason, the doctor seems confident that it is just a phase and there is no underlying issue. Hunter totally stopped grunting one day around 3 months old. Ummm, 3 months sounds like a long time! What does she suggest....buy some ear plugs!!
Today (August 4) is my birthday....I turned 29!! Today would have also been my parents 45th wedding anniversary! I sure do miss my mom on my birthday, and I know my dad misses her on their anniversary. She was such a special lady! I LOVE that Trent was born on me and Scott's anniversary. Mom used to say that I was the best anniversary gift! Now, I understand...Trent will forever be my best anniversary gift! This makes me feel even closer to mom, and I love that we both share our wedding anniversary with our "special babies!!" Happy 2 weeks to my sweet Trent- you will forever hold an extra special place in my heart!!
