Beach Trip

We treated ourselves to a weekend at the beach! Just our family of 5. We always go on vacation with people, family and friends. So, we decided to invest in our family time. We rented a beach house in Galveston. My family had a beach house my entire life, dad just sold it a few years ago. I was raised going to Galveston, and I still love it! We enjoyed a long weekend of wave jumping, kite flying, handstands and tricks on the beach, boogie boarding, going to the strand, and ice cream! It was so nice to connect and have family time!
Hunter spent the entire weekend jumping the waves!! Running on the beach and in the water! He also loved finding sea shells! Trent was attached to the boogie board! He jumped waves and ran while pulling that board for hours. Faith Ann stayed close by me the entire weekend. We played in the sand and took a lot of walks.
I was doing sprints while pulling the kids on the boogie board. They were flying over the water. It was SO much fun! They were loving it!! I did it for an hour straight, and I was honestly sore the next day, ha! Pulling 40+ pounds on that wet sand, in a full sprint, was exhausting. It was worth it. This was a highlight of our trip. The boys were obsessed! Scott tried to pull me, however, it didn't work quiet the same. But, we got good laughs!
Trent also spent hours playing with his monster truck. He built sand dunes and pushed that truck all day! He had his truck jump waves, pulled it on the boogie board and made race tracks! This boy just has the "driving gene" in his blood! He is still full force obsessed with monster trucks, dirt bikes, race cars!! He is totally fascinated by anything that drives fast, loud, and jumps!
Bentley came along for the weekend. She played so hard. Jumping, swimming, running. She was so tired!!! She enjoyed the attention and outdoor time. We adore Bentley. She has such a tender and playful heart!
The rest of our weekend was filled with watermelon, ice cream, sand and more sand!! Lots of laughter. Lots of "mom, watch this!" Lots of Scott and I spending time together. The kids crashed at night, and Scott and I watched the sunset on the deck and enjoyed visiting!
Lots of playing!!! We had handstand challenges, which are always fun! We played "airplane" which turned into the kids doing flips over me. It was an active weekend, but also a laid back weekend at the same time. I enjoyed this alone time with my family so so much!
Just the 5 of us! It was a simple, fun, adventurous, funny, and memorable weekend! The boys have already talked about how much they miss the beach! I look forward to many more family vacations with more "core!" My core family is so precious to me. It was a great weekend!
When we got home, it was back to sissy dressing up and stacking necklaces on, and pushing Zoe in the stroller. This cracked me up! Thank goodness for patient dogs!! Great weekend, great memories!

Happy 11th Anniversary and 4th Birthday Trent!

What a big day July 16th is!!! That is the day we celebrate our anniversary and Trent's birthday. I was born on my parents anniversary, and I just know that is why I have such a special bond with Trent. He has had me wrapped around his finger from day one. The softest part of my heart belongs to Trent! He is a die hard momma's boy, and I am his biggest fan! I LOVE that we get to celebrate Trent on our anniversary. It is also our 11 year anniversary. It was a big day!
July 16th fell on a Saturday, so we got to have his party on his actual birthday!!! He woke up to some super cool gifts. We got him a flicker scooter...which moves by rocking your hips. Your momentum can build up to where you go really fast. Our neighbor has one, and Trent was so excited when he got his own! He also got his first set of real golf clubs from my dad. Scott can't wait to go golfing with him! And Scott's mom got him a "fast backpack" for PreK. Trent thinks that anything with the Nike "swoop" means FAST! He was so happy! Then, we were off to his party at the splash pad.
We had a little gathering at the splash pad with the party theme "Blaze." Trent is obsessed with monster trucks! Blaze is an adorable show about trucks, and Trent loves it! We hit up Party City for decorations, and Trent was SO excited about the decorations! He was most happy about the medals he got for party favors! Blaze medals for all his friends. Trent was handing them out for everyone to wear. Sweet boy!
The cutest part of the party was the cake. Trent wanted a monster truck cake. Well, cousin Ally enjoys baking so we hired her to make the special cake. She did amazing! Trent wanted his favorite colors...orange and green. The cake was perfect, warmed my heart to have such a personal touch to his party. We played in the splash pad and the playground. Ate TONS of donuts and cake! It was a happy success! The picture of Faith Ann getting busted for eating the cake cracks me up! She kept trying to lick the icing. Everyone had a great time!
Then, it was time to celebrate our anniversary! The kids all spent the night at my brother, Chad's house. Our kids LOVE their cousins. Chad's kids are about the same age as ours, so they get along so good! They had a house full of 6 young kids while Scott and I took off for our date night of rock climbing and bar hoping! I'm a simple girl that would MUCH rather adventure than a fancy dinner! So, late night rock climbing was perfection. Then, we went to a local bar and had a beer while we listened to the band. Perfect anniversary! Oh, I should mention, that my brother made me a very strong Vodka and tonic for our date. So, I poured it in my water bottle for rock climbing. Let's just say I was a very brave rock climber, haha! It was SO MUCH FUN!
We got home late and enjoyed sleeping in a little. Scott and I took our time the next morning and enjoyed the quiet house while the kids were at Chad's. We went out to breakfast alone, which was the icing on the cake to an awesome anniversary. Then, we picked up the kids and finished off our weekend. Oh ya, and I dyed my hair purple! Haha! I have always wanted purple hair. So why the heck not?! I got a few strands of hair underneath my hair, so it's easy to cover up. But, it just adds a bit of character. The kids think it is the coolest thing in the world, and Scott LOVES it! He said, "who knew I would love purple hair!?" We had a wonderful weekend. I am grateful for Trent, we had a blast on his birthday. I am grateful for Scott, our anniversary was right up my alley. And I love the gift he got me...a professional photo session for our family. He is so thoughtful. Love all the way around!
