Back to School (Kinder and PreK)

Hunter is now in kindergarten! A new chapter has begun! I've always heard that time starts really flying once your kids are in kindergarten. I can already see that. They grow so much each day as they grow more independent and confident. As much as I want that confidence to grow, I still want him to be my baby forever! He was beaming with joy on his first day of school. He has Mrs. Timmreck and likes to "climb stuff" and wants to be "a daddy" when he grows up! My precious boy!
Scott and I made a big breakfast and took pictures before I drove him to school. He LOVES riding the bus, but I negotiated to drive him on his first day. I just had to walk him into his class. I picked him up for a picture to document (just maybe) his last first day of school that I can actually hold him! He really enjoyed his first day. Not an ounce of fear...all joy and eagerness! He talked FOREVER about his first day after he got off the bus. I heard every detail, which I loved. I hope he always wants to talk to me about his life. I will always listen!!!!
The rest of the week was filled with early morning bus stops and mommy time with Trent and Faith Ann. Trent started school 2 weeks after Hunter, so it was kind of nice to have some alone time with my two littles! We enjoyed Labor Day weekend and got a jump start on Halloween. Sneak peak...Hunter wanted to be an emoji and we stumbled across this costume and he was so excited. I couldn't pass up this bubble gum machine costume for sister, too adorable. And Trent wanted to be a deer! They have already loved playing in their costumes! Let's see if they make it to Halloween?! We also spent the day at Mike and Gingers (my parents good friends.) We swam, ate and enjoyed catching up with them. They are so fun and so dear to our family! And to top it off....Dad is really looking and feeling great these days. I am so grateful!
Then it was Trent's turn. My sweet Trent!!! First day of Pre-K!!! He is doing one year of Pre-K at our church, then another year of Pre-K next year at Rummel Creek. This year, he will be going every day 9:00-2:00, but gets out at noon on Thursdays. He has a summer birthday, and another year will give him extra time to grow more knowledge and confidence. However, his first day of school was full of confidence! He was beaming! He is in the "giraffe class" with Ms. Carol and Ms. Anne. He likes to "drive monster trucks" and wants to be a "4-wheeler racer" when he grows up! Of course he does!!! haha. This boy has a need for speed that runs thick in his blood. But, I want him to slow down and stay my baby Trent forever!
Scott went to work late and we took Trent to school. He loves his "fast backpack." He thinks anything with the Nike symbol means "fast!" Again, he wants to go fast! He walked in the classroom and took Scott straight to the monster trucks and race car bucket. His teacher has already said that he spends most of his time there...building tracks, crushing cars with the monster trucks, doing jumps off the ramp! He says that school is "not fun at all." And he says it is "really bad!" Ha! But then proceeds to tell me all about his friends, games, and activities they do. And he runs into class with a big smile! Ya Trent, sounds awful! He is loving it!
Trent was feeling strong and confident all week! He looked forward to each morning...wanting to know what was in his lunch and wanted to get dressed the second he woke up! He has been riding his bike to Hunter's bus stop, and he just looks so big to me! This is going to be a big year for Trent!!
Then, there is sister!! It is OUR time together, and I love every second. We have enjoyed long lunches, slow walks, visiting the library, swinging at the park, and lots of girl talk. I am totally looking forward to this year being our time to deepen our connection with quality alone time. She gets plenty of social interaction...child care during my fitness classes, at the gym, church, cousins, playdates and street friends! Next year, she will have a first day of school. But, not now! I am savoring these days that her hand is ALWAYS right there for me to hold, her voice is always right there chiming in my ear...these feelings and sounds will be greatly missed one day. I am soaking up each moment! This is going to a good year, and I am looking forward to the blessings in store!
