California Spring Break

What a vacation!!!! We headed to California for spring break, and we experienced many "firsts!" The first time for the kids to ride on an airplane! They were SO excited. Our trip took off on a rocky start though. We had an evening flight. We get to the airport, all excited and ready to go. We get to the desk, only to find out that our flight was cancelled due to a snow storm! Cancelled! The next flight out for 5 seats was 2 days later! WHAT? Spring break plans...Disney tickets, Lego Land, etc- all cancelled! In a scurry...we searched flights at another airport and found one that was scheduled to leave the next morning. We booked it and headed back home! Only to wake up at 5:00am the next morning to load back up and head to the airport. In all the chaos, Scott and I stayed calm and the kids were very flexible. It was a long flight, with a lay over. They got to go inside the cockpit with the pilot, which was so cool! But, we finally made it to California, and we were ready for a vacation of a lifetime!

We stayed with Gigi, Scott's mom. She has lived there for years, but this was the first time for her grandchildren to make the trip. We rented a van big enough for all of us and were ready for adventure. We got the awesome experience of going California skiing! Just an hour drive from Gigi's house, we went to Snow Valley. What an unbelievable day and atmosphere! First time for the kids to see snow!!!! They ran to the snow, got a handful and took a bite! ha! The weather was so warm. I was skiing in a tank top! Scott and I headed to the top of the mountain and enjoyed skiing. The kids loved playing with the snow, so much joy!

We all went sledding. It was so cute to watch them drag their sled to the top of the hill and fly down! We made snowballs and a snowman! Lots of snow angels too. Snow Valley had to be the highlight of my trip. The weather was to die for! The snow was plush. The ski trails were fun. No crowds!!! No lines! Just an easy, fun, relaxing and memorable day!

The next day we headed to Lego Land! What an adventure! We raced in the gates and went straight to the first roller-coaster we saw! It was the kids first roller-coaster ever to ride. They were anxious and filled with excitement while we waited. They were so patient as the line slowly moved. They loved the ride! And they were ready to scurry onto the next. So, the day was filled with rides and many cool things to see. Scott loved all the details at Lego Land. It really is amazing!

Then the next day, we had a relaxing day at the beach. This was the highlight of Scott's trip. How cool that we could ski and go to the beach in one vacation?! Just so awesome! We had a gorgeous warm day. We played in the white sand, jumped waves, and ate lunch at the cutest beach taco restaurant. We enjoyed the day of leisure and R&R! We cleaned off and made a short drive to a ninja gym! I just had to visit one of the most popular ninja gyms in the country...Tempest! It was so so cool. Very different than what I am used to, but I got some training in while the kids had a blast too!

That night, Gigi took over kid duty while Scott and I had a date! We went to the casino!!!! So very interesting. The casino was on an Indian resort. It was a huge, very elaborate casino. We ate at a sushi restaurant in the casino then roamed the casino and enjoyed our time together! We went back home and got some rest to gear up for Disneyland!!!

Bright and early, we were off to Disneyland! The kids were beaming with excitement! Again, another gorgeous day! I was so impressed with how quickly the lines moved. I was even more impressed with our kids patience!!!! The loved every second. Faith Ann wore a princess dress and was drawn to all the girl stuff....Tinkerbell, Minnie, Daisy, Cinderella and all things pink! We toured Minnie and Mickey's house. We got to visit with Mickey. We rode many many rides! Lots of walking, lots of amazement! We waited in the long line for Space Mountain...worth every minute! The boys talked about it for days! That was my favorite ride all week!

The rest of the trip was filled with swimming at Gigi's, play time and eating! I just loved the kids innocence as their mind wandered with all the "firsts" they experienced! Plane rides, snow, roller-coasters, Lego Land, Disney, white sanded beach! It was worth every penny spent! Priceless vacation!  It was truly a vacation that I will always treasure! Spring Break 2017 goes in the books as one of the best! Grateful!
