End of Summer

We had one last trip before summer ended. Port Aransas!! Our friends, the Green's have a family house there. So, we loaded up and drove to Port Aransas for a long weekend. The Schick family came too. It was so simple, so perfect. Our girls are inseparable. Best friends. And we are extra blessed because the moms are also very close friends. God has placed treasures in our lives!

They surprised me with a little late birthday celebration. Cake and earrings! Perfect and so thoughtful. We enjoyed dinners, beach, walks, golf carts and snowcones. The house was great and accommodated all of us. The kids had a blast, to say the least. The chemistry among our families is priceless. We have many more trips ahead!

We closed up Port Aransas and headed home to finish summer. We had a day at Splashway with friends...we will def go back. That place was awesome! Lots of swimming and meals outside. And Scott and I squeezed in a couple date nights to celebrate the end of our 6 month "spring break!!' Yes, the kids have been home since Spring Break! 6 months! That is crazy. But school starts soon, and we wrapped up summer with sunshine and friends.

Goodbye to a summer we will NEVER forget. Coronavirus has forever changed us, our children and our future. I tried to keep my children's lives as normal as possible, to ride out this storm. I wanted to protect my children from the fear breeding around us in this world. I wanted to teach "faith over fear." We continue to be cautious, but we have also continued to live our lives. This summer made history in many ways. We won't forget, but we gladly move on as we are ready for school, sports and normal life!

My 37th Birthday and Miscellaneous

August 4th....my birthday. I turned 37! It would have also been my parents wedding anniversary. So, it's always a special day. We kept it simple with a family dinner at Escalantes. Outside on the patio. Coronavirus is still a pandemic, so we are still mostly keeping to ourselves. Aside from our usual friends that we see on a daily basis.

We have lots of friend time. We went to see a movie...we were the only people in the entire theater!! They aren't playing new movies right now, so we saw the classic "Karate Kid." We have also had lots of outdoor outings. We tried this new bike park near the Woodlands. It was AWESOME! FaithAnn had a pretty hard fall. She bruised up her chin, but still got back up and kept riding. It was a really cool park filled with ramps, trails and more.

Our kids are so blessed with amazing friends. Lifelong friends that we will all grow old together. So, we may not have been surrounded by tons of friends this corona season...but, we know we are blessed. I am grateful for the friends that we celebrate life with. This year is definitely not going as planned. But, I am still thankful for so much. Cheers to another year of happiness and a grateful heart!
