Easter and Braces

HAPPY EASTER! Our annual Easter bunny picture cracks me up, and I treasure my annual collection of bunny pictures. Easter was simple this year. We did breakfast, Easter baskets and egg hunt at home before church. Then, I made a big lunch when we got home. Grandpa and Beau came over too. It was a nice day. The Easter bunny brought snuggies for everyone, and they were a huge hit!

And a BIG deal....HUNTER GOT BRACES!!! We love our orthodontist. Their sweet "support dog" is so adorable and truly helps. He is projected to wear them for 2 years. It took a few days to get used to them, but he was a trooper. Macy, Drew and Kinsley came in town. We got to spend a lot of time with them. It was great. I let Trent and FaithAnn skip school to hang out with them. Fun times.

Sports, Hunter Confirmation and More

Trent is LOVING lacrosse. It has definitely become a favorite sport. He will be playing it for many years. It was so fun to watch his team improve. He was voted All Star for his team. And FaithAnn has loved softball. She has really blossomed into a confident player. Consistent hits and amazing fielding. She played first base on the8u Crush! She also gets asked to sub often for 10u, so it's pretty cool she is getting a lot of experience. She also got asked to finish out the season with Twelve, which is a tournament team. Quiet the jump up, but she is ready for the challenge. Hunter is playing tournament basketball with Just Play. Basketball continues to be Hunter's favorite.

The rest of the days are filled with friends, birthday parties, school field day, crawfish boils, Camp Blessing luncheon and family time. My aunt Lauran is in advanced stages of Alzheimer's, and she comes over on Wednesdays to give my uncle a break. I have enjoyed my time with her. We run errands and sit on the porch. She enjoys listening to music and listening to me talk about my dad (her brother.) It is such a sad disease. I cherish our time together.

6th grade confirmation at church was a big deal for Hunter. Scott did all the classes with Hunter the entire school year. Every Sunday. It was a big commitment, and I am proud of them. I love that Hunter established deeper roots in church. I pray he continues to learn and grow. The confirmation ceremony was really special. The days are rolling by as the memories overflow. SO grateful.

Big Bend RV Trip (Spring Break)

We loaded up in an RV and headed to Big Bend National Park. We broke up the drive with SeaWorld in in San Antonio on the way there. Our friends also rented RV's, and we caravanned the entire way. What a fun memory. There were hurdles and chaos along the way, but such amazing memories.

We loved SeaWorld an enjoyed the entire day there. Then, we cooked out that night. Loaded up early to hit the road for Big Bend. We stayed in Lajitas Resort, and the dads went golfing right when we got there. Some of the little boys went horseback riding while the moms got settled at the camp site.

We had a few days of hiking, cooking, dune sliding, zip lining, swimming, and good old fashioned outdoor fun. The trails were amazing. We drove the RV into the park super early. We parked at Santa Elena trail and cooked a huge breakfast. Eggs, bacon tacos. It was magical. Then, we started the hike. It was about 2 hours, full of views and adventure. The kids LOVED it, and I soaked in the view. I still can't believe the pictures.

We also hiked Closed Canyon in Big Bend State Park. This may have been my favorite. We were in the middle of two huge canyons, so cool to climb and explore. We spent the rest of the time hanging out at camp. Swimming and the kids climbed a massive sand dune and slid down it a million times. Definitely a highlight of the trip.

The trip started with our 3 families. It quickly grew into a massive group from our neighborhood. The memories will be cherished. So rare all these people are able to coordinate and come together. So cool. We reserved the banquet room for a huge dinner for our entire group. It was the perfect last night to an epic trip.

Then, the drive home was a huge adventure! IT SNOWED!!!!!!! We tried to drive but had to turn around because the roads were so icy. We hung out at a gas station for a few hours. Then decided to give it another try. It was much better as the ice melted. So, it took us MUCH longer to get home. What a long day! Thankful we had the RV so the kids could sleep in a bed while we drove. Spring Break was a success. Memorable, adventurous, funny and truly something the kids will never forget!
