Recital, Stats and Adventures

We had Faith Ann's 4 year old doctor appointment. She weighs 37 pounds (64th percentile), and 42 inches tall (88th percentile.) She screamed bloody murder during her shots. Hunter and Trent tried to calm her down...but it only made her scream louder. We ran out of that office as fast as we could. We went to the gas station to celebrate with slushee's! And her dance recital! OMG!!! The cutest thing I have ever seen. There were thousands (yes, thousands) of people in this huge auditorium watching. I thought she was going to get stage fright, but she didn't! She had a huge smile and popped out of that flowerpot and danced her heart out!! It was so amazing to watch. My sweet girl!

FATHERS DAY!! I went to Vegas during fathers day. That's another story that I will get into later. It was for American Ninja Warrior, and had an amazing time! But, I decided to celebrate Fathers Day early before I left town. The kids and I surprised Scott with a family dinner and thoughtful gifts. The kids decorated the house and we painted cups for daddy!! It was a fun project. We bought him a huge car care bucket...hand picked by Trent! After dinner, we played a family football game to celebrate such a fun loving daddy!!

And Fridays are for adventures!!!! Every Friday this summer, we have an adventure planned. Trent's favorite has been the tour of Minute Maid Park. We got to go on the field, in the dugout and pressbox! It was so interesting, and we really learned a lot about the Houston Astros. Hunter's favorite adventure has been Typhoon Texas. However, all the kids were obsessed with this! I was too! Our friends came with us, and we spent the entire day! I was so impressed with Faith Ann...she rode these HUGE water slides alone! Like a big girl. This was one of the first times that I felt like I had all "big kids!" No whining, complaining, holding, diaper changes, etc. Just good ole fun! It was amazing. Summer is going strong and full of fun!

Leakey Family Reunion

My favorite annual tradition! Leakey, Tx. We head to the Hill Country for my dads side of the family reunion every summer. We love the Frio River. We have been doing this every summer since I was little. It is a cherished tradition that I look forward to carrying on forever. We stay in the same cabins every year , and do the same thing every year...float, visit, yard games, tons of simple fun!

There are a lot of babies!! My cousin, Sarah, has twin baby girls. My kids are obsessed. Hunter acted like the babysitter all weekend and Faith Ann was the "big sister!" Holding hands and talking to the babies. They asked me if we could have another one!!!! I opened my beer and said, "Just enjoy your cousins!" haha!

We literally go with the flow all weekend. Take morning walks, create yard games, and eat long meals. Plop our chairs in the Frio River and visit all day. It is HEAVEN! We skip rocks, fish, and laugh. The river was very low this year. So we didn't do much tubing. But, it was kind of nice because the babies could get around easily.

Bentley has come with us every year. She loves Leakey. She is getting old, and this trip showed it. Her feet hurt after running on those rocks. She was sore and tired. But she sure had a great time. We always say that her Heaven is going to be Leakey

Card games galore!!!! We sat around that picnic table and played for hours. Colored rocks and told lots of stories. We always enjoy talking about my mom on this trip. She brought so much life to our Leakey trips, so her memory is always a camp fire topic of conversation! Dad was missed too. He couldn't come this year. He is just too sick. Mostly bed ridden and actually in the hospital with another infection. That's a whole other topic!! But, Leakey is, hands down, his favorite place on Earth. So, we missed him!

We played football until our arms hurt, dodge ball until our legs tired out, and hiked until our feet ached! The kids held hands, laughed, played and stayed by each others sides the entire time. Leakey....you are so dear to my heart!!!! Simple vacation. But always, our favorite!

SCHOOL IS OUT

GREAT school year!!!! Hunter sailed through 1st grade. Trent blossomed in Pre-K and FaithAnn is confident and ready for Rummel Creek. I couldn't have asked for more. New friends were made, old friends deepened. I walked the boys to school for their last day. Faith Ann and I headed home to decorate for their summer surprise. NEW BIKES! Faith Ann had a great time decorating and making name tags for the bikes. They have been hiding in my elderly neighbors house for a month! Such amazing neighbors we have!!! He said "I will store anything you ever need, I just love watching your family soak up life!!' Amen to that!

"Boogie Down Brittmoore" is always on the last day of school. So, we loaded up our wagon full of water balloons and water guns. We parked our wagon and walked to pick up boys for early dismissal. We soak the 5th graders as they leave Rummel Creek for the last time before they graduate. The entire school gets involved. Scott even takes off work for the water balloon fun! After Boogie Down Brittmoore, the boys made it home to their surprise. They were SO excited!!! I haven't been able to peel them off since.

So far, we have a had some afternoons at my dads. Visiting him and trying to do what we can to give him some quality memories. He is fading. Memory is in and out and body is atrophying. It is hard to watch. But, I try to remain present and bring the joy of my children around him as much as possible.

And Veronica and kids are in town from Brownwood for a week to kick off summer. I got Faith Ann and Gabriella matching swimsuits, and they are adorable! They love each other so much. I really love the my kids get to enjoy the friendships of their cousins. We are blessed, and we are officially head deep in summer! Here we go....
