Good Times Roll

Random photo dump of the good times! The days are long, but the years are short. But honestly...the days are fast as hell. We are in a "fast and furious" phase of life. Different directions, all day. Spread thin. But, I always try to make a point to stop and smell the roses. Because oh my gosh...we gave some amazing roses in our life!

Life is about those unplanned moments. The open windows of freedom. Those are the moments that make life so sweet. Between school, practices, parties and housework. Those brief minutes become life's biggest memories. That's what I live for. We dance!! We jump in the pool with our clothes on. We go on last minute dinner dates. And I have to admit...my front porch is my favorite place on Earth. Watching my kids play, listening to music, and just BEING!! Being present. What a gift. Let the good times roll!

Happy 11th Birthday, Hunter

September 13. My first baby is 11!!!! That seems so old, so big! I surprised him with balloon numbers and a yard sign. I decided that I could do the balloons by myself! What an undertaking, lol! But it was worth it. He was so surprised when he got back from football and saw his decorations. He was geared up and ready for a fun birthday!

I took him lunch at school on his birthday. We sat outside alone, and I loved every second. This will be my last year to be able to do this, and what a treat it was. We also had a fun morning of opening gifts. Then, we ended the day with a family dinner at Mia's Table.

Hunter's good friend, Charlie, has the same birthday. So, we decided to share a birthday party. It was so fun, so simple and perfect. We had a big group of boys at the school playground. With football, kickball, snowcones and pizza. Truly, so simple. Yet, so full of joy. The boys had a blast!

Then, the big surprise!!!! I got him tickets to go see DUDE PERFECT live on tour!!! I got the kids out of school, along with his best friend, Brady. We ditched school on a Wednesday and headed to San Antonio! We stayed in a hotel and swam and had fun dinner. Then, we went to the coolest show ever. Dude Perfect is a great group of men that do trick shots! So entertaining and funny. My kids love them.

It was a great adventure. We woke up early and drove 2.5 hours back to school, and I had the kids back in class by lunch time the next day! Happy Birthday, Hunter. May you continue to be up for adventure and excitement. We adore you, and I loved this birthday so much!!

Trent Surgery

Welp. Trent's football season came to an abrupt end. Broken toe. Doesn't sound that bad....except for the fact that it was an open fracture. His bone came out of his cuticle. Yes. It was a nasty break! Since he was at high risk for infection (because the bone left the body and went back in!!), we had to get surgery. Our first true family injury!! And he was just running and playing rough at Westisde. Took a fall at the wrong angle and bam!!

He had to get a pin put in his toe to ensure the bone grew back correctly. He has a hard cast for 3 weeks, then a fracture boot for 2 weeks. So, that is most of his football season which he is destroyed about. But, he still goes to every game and every practice. He will be back in time for playoffs, so that will be a fun return!

He has been so rough on his cast. He has sweaty feet, which makes for an interesting experience. We blow dry his foot any way we know how! He had to switch out his cast because his foot got so "water logged!!" Nasty! He is such a trooper though. Never complains and never misses a beat. Still playing hard, and making me nervous every second. That pin sticking out is so disturbing! We actually had the doctor build a medal guard around it. Trent needs all the protection he can get with how rowdy he is.

We survived the hard cast. He got his pin pulled out and his fracture boot on for 2 weeks. He is back to bike riding to and from school. I no longer have to pick him up on the electric scooter, which was kind of fun! We are in the tail end and I pray this was just a bump in the road. The surgery was nerve wrecking. Trent was incredibly nervous about the anesthesia. But, it all happened so fast. And we got an incredible doctor. So, Trent knew he was in good hands. Trent learned to trust the process and take it one second at a time. We lived, we learned, we grew. And life rolls on.....

Friends and Sports

School days are in full gear. Homework, tests and early bedtimes are part of our days. However, the early bedtimes are harder and harder with all the sports. Our nights are busy! Hunter and Trent are both playing Memorial & football. It is "touch football." FaithAnn is playing soccer.

Hunter is taking basketball lessons every Monday. Trent and FaithAnn bring a friend because we go park hopping while Hunter is at practice. We get a slushie from the gas station then go play. The kids love it.

Hunter and Trent are on football teams with their friends, which they love. Hunter has been on the same team for years, so it is so fun to watch them grow together as a team. This is Trent's first time with Memorial7. He is on a team with Wilchester and Rummel Creek kids. Great coaches and awesome boys.

Hunter scored the first touchdown of the season!! He has scored either a touchdown or extra point evert game. And Trent is a beast on defense....interceptions galore! And FaithAnn is a beast. She has scored every goal for her team so far this season. Love watching her. And Trent is shining at his small group football lessons. He goes every Sunday and learning a ton. They do field time and whiteboard time. Learning and loving the game. Happy campers.
