4 month stats

Weight:14.5 lb
                                                                      Height:25.5 in
He is still growing fast and is in about the 40-50% for both...pretty average! Doctor said, "What he lacks in size, he makes up for in personality!" She also said that he is "very socially advanced!" He smiled and talked the entire doctor appointment!So...this means that he may not be the biggest, smartest or strongest...but he sure will love a party!! Do I smell trouble?!

Not much to say this week, other than.....Baby Boot Camp is NOT for sissy's!! A group of girls and I went to try it out thinking, "Oh cute, a bunch of moms and their babies!" Well....cute is not the word! Let's just say we were all sore for days. We are crazy enough to keep going, however now we are mentally prepared!

Scott's new favorite thing about Hunter...his ONE long hair!! Hunter has very little hair, but he has one hair on the top of his head that is about 5 inches long! That one hair blows in the wind and glistens in the sun...it is so funny! Hunter's accomplishment of the week...he rolled over from belly to back! He is not consistent but has done it a few times. Tummy time is a little more tolerable with a blanket bunched up under his chest. He rolls over by getting on all fours (elbows and knees)...then plomp!

Hunter enjoyed his music class at Second Baptist. He played with bells and thought all of the singing mommies were very funny! We sang the "Wheels on the Bus" and you would of thought that Hunter won the lottery!! His smile was ear to ear as we squealed along with the song!

A-m-a-z-i-n-g! Who would of thought that an earlier bedtime means a later wake time!? We were putting Hunter down at 8 and he would wake 5:30-6:00. So, we changed it up by putting him down at 7:00-7:30 and he sleeps straight to 7:00-7:30! According to "Healthy sleep=Happy Baby"...that extra 30 minutes before bedtime was making him "over tired" preventing him from getting quality sleep...oops, makes me feel bad! Live and learn-we are all on the same page and respect his need for an early bedtime! Even though, it's kinda a bummer that 'daddy time' is cut short. Scott says, "It not the quantity of time- it's the quality of time that counts!" So true! On the flip side...lots more "Brandi and Scott time!" We are enjoying the fact that we have our "evenings back!"

"Sunday's Best!"  Yes, I know this outfit is a little "girly," but come on....he's just a baby! I thought he looked adorable at church in his linen romper! Hunter has the best laugh...his "whole face laughs!"

Mommy Brain

Is there such thing? My mom used to claim that she had "chemo brain" while she was being treated for pancreatic cancer. Well, I claim that I have "mommy brain!" Here's why: I was looking for my cell phone...while I was talking on it! I left my house with one earring on. I have created my own vocabulary-not by choice! I actually parked in my neighbors driveway and unloaded Hunter before I realized I was in the wrong driveway! For those that know me...probably aren't real surprised by my "coo-coo-ness!" the list could go on but I must say, I have really laughed at myself! Good thing Hunter isn't old enough to tease me yet;)! What's my come back...I have "mommy brain!"

Hunter is being baptized Feb 27th...thank you to our great friend Meredith and Uncle Greg for being Godparents! We are very blessed to have Hunter baptized at a church that we love so much!!

No question....we have the BEST family and friends!! My eyes got opened to the importance of friendships... I always say, "It's so hard not having a mom at  times when I just want to go to the grocery store, go to dinner with friends, etc!" One of my friends said back to me, "God may have taken your mom but he has blessed you with friends that love Hunter as their own!" SO TRUE!! Hunter has been babysat by many of our friends, he is so loved by them! Hunter has a lot of 'aunts'!! I LOVE staying home, especially spending so much time with the best of friends! Our days are filled with lots of laughter, memories, and FUN! These are years that I will forever look back on and cherish! We are about to start a music class and "Baby Boot Camp!" So many creative things out there to participate in!!

I made the choice to always let Scott "do the Dad things" without me critiquing him. I am totally okay with the experiences that Hunter and Scott will have....candy for dinner, camo to church, sharing an ice cream cone with the dog, doing homework in front of the TV, skipping a shower, etc! Scott was "in charge" of Hunter the other day and the "Dad things" have already started.....they played in the cold rain together, cleaned guns, and wore a backwards diaper! Hey, Hunter survived!!

Hunter facts: He can sit up alone for about 2 minutes, almost rolling over, hates tummy time, still wearing 0-3 month clothes (some are kinda snug), is a very "still" sleeper, teething like a "rockstar," loves his pappy, laughs loud, grabs things, keeps his eye on me, sleeps in his sleep sack, wakes me up by talking and laughing in the morning, is a total flirt with girls, and still loves "Susie!!" Here is a picture of his "teething face!"

Fun Friday!

This blog post is in "Hunter's perspective:"
Pic 1-2: What will the ladies like more...Hat?? Or....No Hat??
Pic 3: Help me! I have to live with this woman everyday!  Mom let me borrow her hair...I'm speechless and embarrassed. Does she really think she is funny?!
Pic 4: Mom learned a lesson today, "always pull clothes away from skin when zipping!" Thank you cousin Kinsley for sparring me that one... OUCH!!!  Mom is sorry...we love you!
Pic 5: You do NOT want to know what mom was doing to get this reaction out of all 3 of us!
Pic 6-8: I REALLY do love my sisters, but these annoying photo sessions gotta go!

4 MONTHS OLD!

That's right...4 months! His appointment is coming up, and I look forward to seeing how much he has grown. I know I say this every week, but really...everyday gets more and more FUN!  I'm just going to ramble a bit...here is what is going on in our lives:

Hunter is still breastfeeding, but he is starting to understand food. He will stare at my mouth while I am eating. He is getting pretty curious about food! For now, breastmilk seems to be keeping him satisfied...we will see what the coming month has in store! While eating, he will pull away from me and start talking, laughing, and smiling then go right back to eating. It is so funny, but is adding some time onto each feeding!! That is okay...that is the kind of time that is worth slowing down for! One of the biggest gifts that Hunter has given us is that he is perfectly content entertaining himself. We love holding and playing with him, but we also love "our time!" And Hunter gives us that and more...I am never rushed (well, hardly ever) while getting dressed, showering, eating, cooking, etc...it's great! I do NOT take this for granted!

Hunter's 3 favorite things right now...1. his exersaucer 2. reading from the "Childrens Bible" and 3. my "Susie" personality. Well, that is a long story...but in a nutshell...I have a personality named "Susie." She has a crazy lisp and has very funny things to say. Susie also makes bizarre faces while talking. Hunter laughs so hard that he gets tears in his eyes! Scott is very jealous of Susie...he is trying to create his own personality. So far, Hunter has not laughed at Oscar, Omar, or any others. Scott is still working on it!! Scott is the best. He is the best dad, and in my opinion the best dad entails being a great husband...and that he is!! I woke up the other morning to a note from Scott next to the breakfast he made me with a glass of already poured apple juice in the fridge! No matter how happy he is to see Hunter, he always kisses me first when coming home...what a great example to Hunter!

I am in a Bible study with a wonderful group of young mothers. We are reading, "My Tub is overflowing, but I feel drained." It is a Christian based book on the realities of motherhood. I think my "ah-ha" moment came when I read about how a mother worries! I thought..."am I a bad mother because I never worry about Hunter?" Don't get me wrong- I want what's best for him and will do anything in the world for him...but fear and worry-not so much! I questioned myself for a second...then, I kept reading...why worry? Worrying will not add one hour to his life, in fact it will take away many joys of his childhood and from your motherhood!! Release the worry to God...and that is a hard lesson that I learned when I watched my mom loose her long, painful fight to cancer! There is a certain peace that comes along with "letting go of the things you can not control!!" That is one of the VERY FEW good things that came along with loosing my mom. This lesson has allowed me to really enjoy motherhood so far, and I am glad that the book pointed this out to me so that I can appreciate it!!! I love this group of moms, and looking forward to our crazy adventures!

Gotta go...I can hear the priceless sound of Hunter laughing while Scott sings to him! What a great time of life!! Pictures of us celebrating Scott's 28th Bday!! And the camo picture...well, Scott dressed him for church! hahaha, I pick my battles ;-)

Hip Hip Hooray!

Sleeping through the entire night...that's all I have to say!! He has done this for 2 weeks straight and I hope it continues. This leads me to the not-so fun fact that Hunter is totally teething! So, my restful nights may be coming to a temporary end?! He bites and grinds on his pappy, always drooling, rubs his gums with his fingers, and makes faces and noises like "GRRR, this is not feeling good!" Bring on the teeth....and if he is like me and Scott....he is going to have some seriously crooked ones!!!!

My glorious days of having an endless supply of diapers and wipes is about to be over! One more box to go through, then I am hitting the diaper isle! Good news is that the box has 252 diapers, so I still have a little while. When I opened the last box, I thought, "WHAT, we have to buy our own diapers!?" So, thank you to everyone who allowed me 4+ months of being spoiled!

Zoe and Bentley sleep in the nursery every night...super cute! All of "my babies" together. The monitor picks up all sorts of breathing, snorting, grunting, tooting, snoring, moaning...so yes, our monitor volume is still OFF! Hunter loves cartoons- and here's what I have to say to all you 'nay sayers'...."OH WELL, I have bigger fish to fry!!" Granted, he only watches like 30 minutes a day, but he loves the noises, bright colors, and songs! He can hold his bottle on his own! Nice, he can start feeding himself in a few months-hehehe! I give him at least 100 kisses a day- I can't resist his soft face! He is down to 2 naps a day and an occasional "cat nap" in the middle. He takes a morning nap(9:30-11:00ish) and late afternoon nap (3:30-5:00ish.) We still have our daily outing between 11:00-2:00, and Hunter really enjoys being "on the go!" Our day to day schedule is really working out nicely. He is a very happy baby and I am a very happy mommy- so it works! The schedule has become totally second nature to both of us, and we are loving working as a team! Oh yes- there are still the unexpected "bumps" in the road, and the bumps can be SO funny-yet-SO frustrating!Happy New Year pictures, and I bought adorable matching polos for Hunter and Austin!
