Hill Country Tour

Our first get away was epic!!! A hill country tour with me and the kids! We go to Leakey (Frio River) every year. Thursday-Sunday. So, I decided to leave Monday and make it an entire week adventure. My friend, Jenn Marks and her girls, joined us for the first part. First stop was Gigi's house in San Marcos!

We floated the Comal River and hung out with Gigi and Richard. There were 3 huge rapids at the end of the Comal River, and the kids did it over and over! Then, we went to Uncle Tommy's lakehouse in Marble Falls. On Lake LBJ. This was a highlight of the summer! We tubed behind the boat for hours! Swam in the pool, ate and spent time with Mimi (the kids great grandmother) which may be Scott's favorite person on Earth! What treasured time. What a FUN day!!

The next stop was San Antonio. We went to a ropes course/zipline place. It was really neat. It was really high, lol!!! I was a little nervous. Meanwhile, the kids were zipping around and balancing across all the crazy things. I'm truly so grateful that my kids to experience these moments. Then, Jenn headed back home while we kept on up the road to continue our adventure!

Fredericksburg, Tx was our next stop. We hiked Enchanted Rock, and we were blessed by a random "cooler weather day!!" It was upper 80's which is unheard of for summer around here. But, it made the kids first true hike so memorable. It was a long hike and harder than the kids thought. But, man, the views are amazing at the top. We sat and talked forever. On top of the world. Trent didn't want to get close to the edge...he is still a little scared of heights! We explored town and ate dinner at this adorable place with live music and delicious food. What an amazing stop!

Then, we stopped at Camp Wood blue water swimming hole on the Quince River. WOW! Beautiful. It was quiet the drive up a steep road in the hill country, But, well worth the drive. Blue cool water. Cliffs to jump off and rocks to throw. We spent the day there. Eating lunch and exploring.

Our final destination was good ole Leakey, TX for my family reunion. Scott met us there with Lou, and we were all together again. Full of good stories and great pictures to show Scott. We spent the weekend at our favorite place...Leakey with family. Fishing, tubing, eating, visiting and loads of music and laughter. Cousins and more cousins. Cabins full of chaos and noise. Beau and Chad with all the kids. My cousins Sarah and Katie. More kids. And my dad's sister, Aunt Sandra. We all think about dad a ton this weekend. This was his favorite place on Earth, and we will continue the tradition proudly!
